Connections Reiki ~ Domestics: Six Wild Kitties

One Saturday night at the Sanctuary, three other volunteers and the 14 year old son of a married couple of volunteers were working outside setting up two big 6x6 walk in freezers. They came across a litter of 6 kittens, some of which had nasty infected eyes. They caught them and sent the 14 year old to get me to look at their eyes.

Three of them just had some 'eye boogers', two had one eye sealed shut, and the last's eyes were completely crusted shut. It took me 45 minutes to get the goo off his eyes with warm water compresses. Then Mikie (the 14 yr old) and I gathered them all up in a box and headed back to my house to get a regular cat carrier and kitty eye medicine. We stopped at a pet store and I grabbed some canned food and some formula. I guessed them 5 or 6 weeks old, but they were a little boney, and the formula is high in protein and fat.

On the drive I taught Mikie about sending energy and the whole time I was working on their eyes I was sending Reiki.

Sunday I fed them one at a time to see how they were eating and treat all their eyes. While they were eating I pet them very softly and sent more Reiki, but mostly I left them be all snuggled together.

Monday I took them to the vet, doing as much work as I could on the with one hand on the carrier. The vet checked them over and set their age as six or seven weeks old by their teeth, but they were a little skinny, but otherwise in great condition. Two of them even purred for the tech. I spent most of the day just in the bedroom with them, letting them play loose.

That night I laid on the floor with them and within 10 minutes they were all curled up in the crook of my arm purring and cuddling and grooming until they all fell asleep. These little fuzzy-buts made 3 grown men back off. I was completely amazed by their complete transformation from 8 week old wild, spitting, hissing, clawing, biting balls of fur, into sweet, nose kissing, purring, snuggling kitties.

Since I have nine residents of my own, I had to find homes for them ASAP. Since I had worked with a local rescue they found homes for them, all in pairs in two days.
