Monster Blackpads
I adopted Monster a long time ago when I was visiting my favorite neighborhood pet store, Pet Place. He was a scrawny, big mouthed little guy who told me the instant I saw him that I needed him.
Monster's nick name is Buddha, for his habit of lounging with his admittedly large tummy sticking out. He is a super sweet guy, he has been known to regularly let my orphans try to nurse, leaving his belly hair quite damp. He's an excellent baby-sitter, grooming and cuddling with the tiny's when I couldn't.
Monster is, well, kinda fat. It's a fight we've had since he was about a year old, and I realized that he wasn't growing up, but growing out. At first I think it was a matter of survival, he was quite starved before someone dropped him off at the pet store and they started feeding him well. Now, I think it's just a matter of habit, and that's a much harder issue to deal with.
Monster is getting to be an old man, but he's still a jolly guy and regularly plays with the laser pointer and chases with younger cats.
Monster has a deferent attitude about Reiki than my other cats. It's something like, 'Thanks, but you keep it, you need it more than I do.'
