"Animals are the Spiritual Connection Between Humans and Nature."
Wraith
Wraith (aka Ralph) is the oldest of the three orphans I was blessed with from the wildlife sanctuary. They were found in an old car that was being pulled out to make room for expanding animal housing. Wraith was the first to be discovered, and he was 99.9% gone. One of the owners of the sanctuary is surely a powerful healer in her own right, because in a matter of 45 minutes she had brought him back from what I thought was surely gone. He was starved and dehydrated, the last of his litter to survive. She soaked him in warm water to raise his body temperature and gave him subcutaneous fluids to rehydrate him. When he started to respond she droppered electrolytes and sugar water into his mouth to give him some initial energy to live. Then he was entrusted to me to care for.
On my way home that night with the three of them, Wraith felt well enough with a tummy full of good formula (the sanctuary specializes in big cats, so they know a thing or two about making a good feline formula) to start to yowl at the top of his lungs. So with a skin and bones, all black screaming kitten, I decided to call him Wraith.
He lived in my shirt for about a week (luckily I worked at a pet store at the time, so I could take them with for treatments and feedings), until he was vigorous enough to hold his own with his much younger and much rounder foster-sibs, Daisy and Beau. Daisy and Beau were under a week old, Wraith was around 3 weeks old when they came to me, but Daisy and Beau hadn't been in such desperate straits as Wraith. Their mother had been scared away, and was too afraid to return for them.
Wraith bounced back like a champ, and today you'd never guess how bad his start had been. He still has a bit of a wild streak, but he still likes to snuggle inside shirts, especially my father's; he calls him Ralph, he could never remember 'Wraith'. He burrows up under the waistband (sweatshirts seem to be his favorite), pokes his nose out of the collar and his feet out around his neck. He loves to sleep under the blankets all the time, so you can't just flop on the bed, you may find 15 pounds of formerly scrawny black cat under there.
Wraith is sort of if-y about how and when he likes his Reiki, he seems to prefer it if I let him under the blankets at night and takes it through my feet.
